Why the Recent Google Pagerank Bitch Slap Was Just a Warning of Things to Come

As you probably know, the recent Google Toolbar pagerank update showed that many prominent websites have lost their visible pagerank. But this is only the beginning and here’s why.

None of the websites or blogs witnessed any loss in traffic from Google. This means that their real pagerank is still there; it has not been penalized.

It’s only the green bar that now shows fewer green pixels.

Darren Rowse, in this update, has found out that Google has been after the paid links; Google wants to prevent buying and selling links based on the pagerank of the website.

Are we supposed to believe that this is all?

That Google just removed some of the green pixels on the Toolbar, even though you may have gotten high rankings in Google, for violating their webmaster guidelines about link schemes?

Financial Freedom Online Tips – 28th Oct 2007

It’s Sunday again and this is the time when I like to find interesting posts and tips that will help me (and YOU!) achieve financial freedom.

Dave shares 7 tips on how to keep motivated especially in the first 6 months of starting your website.

His last tip says “Never give up” and I agree that perseverance is the single most important factor of success regardless of what you want to achieve.

As long as you keep your goal in mind and work towards it, you’ll get there. But remember that having a goal to achieve financial freedom and just trying to get there will not work.

Lodewijk shares 46 more self-sabotage ways of thinking so check with yourself if you are on the right path to freedom.

Chitika Premium Publishers Surprise Email

I got a surprise email two days ago from Ryan Travis of Chitika.com. He sent me my monthly Premium Publishers Report which shows lots of useful stats.

I could actually get most of these stats from my account too, but it would take me some time to sort and organize them into a clear and understandable manner.

The first part shows best and worst performing channels:

Why is this useful?

My Biggest Adsense Click So Far

It’s quite hard to see how much you earn per click in [tag]Google Adsense[/tag] unless you have many channels or not much traffic or you login to your account very soon after is starts collecting data for a new day.

I have a channel set up for a page which I actually DON’T know where it is!

That page received only a few visitors yesterday and one of them clicked on an Adsense ad.

Here’s how much the click was worth:

A whopping $8,64!

Google AdSense Rant From A Pissed Publisher

Google AdSense earnings on my vacuum cleaner site have been sinking like Titanic on a cold night in 1912.

This puny little post won’t change what the 800-pound gorilla called Google does with the AdSense program, but maybe it’s a small step towards a better life as a publisher.

There are two main reasons why my earnings have dropped:

1. Google STILL allows arbitrage sites to exploit the system for pennies to get traffic to their loser sites

I have so far filtered 89 crappy Google arbitrage sites that are allowed to bid very low on the content network and receive traffic to their Overture ads-based sites.

As you are undoubtedly aware, web video is massive right now, and there is a lot of potential you may be missing out on if you are not using videos to promote your business, either on video sharing websites, or on your own website.

Just to give you some idea; there are over 30,000 videos uploaded on Youtube.com and more than 40,000 uploaded on Myspace.com EVERY DAY.

Youtube videos

A very convenient option that Youtube, Google Video, Yahoo video and others offer is that you can embed the video on your website and make your site more attractive to visitors and more effective in communicating your message.

But there is not much customization that you can do with these embedded videos, and it looks amateurish, since every spam website can embed such a video.

How do you stand out from the crowd, have fully customizable videos for your site, and have your own high bandwidth web video server? Read more

Financial Freedom Online Tips – 14th Oct 2007

The road to financial freedom may be a long one but you need to focus only on the next step. If you look to far ahead it may seem to difficult and you’ll lose all the passion and motivation to get there.

Here are top 5 steps you can do this week:

1. Shine With Grace reminds you that if you really want to make it happen you need to create the picture in your mind first.

And if it is financial freedom you want, see it in your mind first. How would that feel? What would you do? What would you buy?

Enjoy that feeling for a few minutes and then sit behind your PC and make one step closer to being financially independent.

How to Play and Win Big in the Google Game

Many people have been exposed lately who were not so good at playing the Google game. They broke the rules of the game and Google has let them know that.

At first, Google hit the bigger directories like Aviva, Alive and others.

Rand Fishking wrote a great post about how Google was penalizing big directories, so I recommend you check what Rand had to say.

Google then hit some of the more visible internet marketers like John Chow, whose blog dropped from PR6 to PR5 and was actually not being found even for the “John Chow” search in Google.

The latest “victims” that I know of are Andy Beard, who wrote a post about being defamed by Google, and Courtney Tuttle who also reports about losing visible pagerank. He also lists some other websites which lost visible pagerank.

Five Simple Ways For Finding Related Keywords

You’ve probably heard of LSI or Latent Semantic Indexing, which is just a big word for search engine-proven synonyms or related keywords.

When a search engine scans your page which, for example, talks about tennis equipment, one of the algorithms to determine whether this page is really relevant is the LSI algorithm, which will scan for related keywords.

If you want to convince a search engine (and a visitor!) that this is a really relevant page for that keyword, you’ll need to include keywords related to tennis equipment on that page.

Here are three free and two paid methods that I use to find related keywords:
