Finding Good Keywords For Product Oriented Websites

If you have a product reviews oriented website and are doing the keyword research with Wordtracker, you can sometimes run out of keywords too quickly.

Here’s an example:

Let’s say you have a tennis racquet reviews website and one of your main pages will contain Wilson tennis racquets.

So you go to Wordtracker to find out which Wilson racquets people search for:

Wilson on wordtracker

As you can see, you don’t have many useful keywords here since there are just a few models listed. You get a similar results if you search for wilson tennis or something like that.

My Journey To Freedom And Over $9000 Per Month

My online adventure started in May 2005 when I decided to have a personal website. I’ve read many tennis websites and found that, at least in my opinion, lots of instruction online was not that effective.

It never occurred to me at that time that my online business would help me to achieve financial freedom and freedom from being stuck in a job.

Learning To Walk In The Online World

I asked a friend who worked for an IT company to help me out, and he suggested a website design firm that would create a website for me.

The design, the ability to write text and upload pictures, cost $700. I thought I had a good deal.

Chitika And Adsense Combo NOT Approved By Google

As you have probably found out, I like to experiment with different Adsense and Chitika combos to improve the CTR for both ads and also to create a more aesthetic look for my website.

I figured out another combo a few days ago and used it on one my pages. It’s the 468 x 180 MPU Chitika ad with an 468 x 60 Adsense ad below.

But as soon as I previewed the ad it became obvious the Chitika images and Adsense text were aligned too perfectly. ;)

It certainly makes sense for visitors not only to directly buy the product even though they have been pre-selled on the publishers website.

The Read more on … invites them to research more on the advertiser’s site and this may lead to a slightly higher CTR.

By the way, my Adsense payout per click is now about 30% of what I get with Chitika eMiniMalls and Chitika Linx so I am seriously considering using Adsense only in the sidebar.

There’s only one way to find out what works: TEST! ;)

Thank You Chitika

Hey, check this cool Bluetooth headset!

But that’s not all, there’s a cool gift in the package…

It’s my first Christmas present of this year: the Jawbone Bluetooth headset worth more than $100!

Now the only thing I need is a Bluetooth cell phone!

Which gives me a good idea for another Christmas gift… ;)

Anyway, I tried wearing the headset and it looked quite cool, but then I realized that it looks much better on my girlfriend. ;)

What’s Your Real CTR?

I often come across forum posts where people complain about their poor CTR in Adsense.

But in my opinion the Adsense CTR numbers don’t tell you the real story.

Adsense stats report clicks / page impressions and that’s your adsense Click Through Ratio.

What is important is the real CTR which for means how many of the visitors clicked on something!

I love to combine Adsense and Chitika and occassionaly sneak in an Amazon affiliate link.

So the real question is whether your overall CTR is good.
