Yes, thanks DR.

Although I always have to upload the Includes file but before I monetize (or insert tracking javascript) I insert just a comment. Something like <-- Content -->.

So that's what you would see in a live page if looked at the source.

Here's a clarification for anyone who may have missed a fine-point...as I did...regarding the HTML snippet (above) showing how the Includes code appears in a page's HTML code.

You will see the Includes code in the HTML code under two circumstances:
1. If you happen to be looking at the actual HTML file itself (e.g., Tomaz looking at Tomaz' actual HTML file in an editor).
2. If you view the live page source in the situation where the actual Includes file has -not- yet been uploaded to the hosting server.

If you instruct your browser to show you the page source of a live page where the Includes file -has- been uploaded to the hosting server, you will not see the Includes file code.

Rather, you will now see, for example, the AdSense javascript that the hosting server fetched and inserted into the page source that it served to you for viewing.

Did I understand this right, Tomaz?

Tomaz,

Would you mind dropping me a quick email to the address associated with this post so that I may ask a few questions about the includes file usage on your vacuum site? It might not be appropriate to post the questions here.

Thanks and Regards, DR

Did the "comment" you mention above get left out of your post...or was the "comment" supposed to be the last sentence ("So if you checked...")?

DR,

Yes, you can upload your own CSS file with SBI and of modify it later. And I haven't noticed any errors in my pages. I simply put some sort of comment into the Includes file before I monetize. Something like this: <!-- Content -->

So if you checked the source page after it is online, you'd only see this comment.

Hi Tomaz,

No apology is necessary.

I'm learning benefits from using includes files from you...and was just curious about the way you positioned the resulting ads. I transitioned over to CSS a while back, and find it easier for me to make sitewide presentational changes (i.e., make a change to one file, rather than having to make changes to multiple files).

Does SBI give you access to manipulating a CSS file associated with a site?

I have another question for you regarding the includes file. When adding the includes file code to the HTML ahead of time...but, not yet having the actual associated includes file uploaded to your host, have you noticed any errors displayed on the web page...or in the results of one of the SBI tools you use to check a page before it is "built"?

Regards, DR

Hi DR,

I'm sorry, I am not an expert on CSS and Includes. I use the internal Site Build It system for Includes files and I learned the basics of SSI so that I can use them on non-SBI sites.

Hi Tomaz,

Just curious...I notice that you're positioning the includes file information within the HTML.

Are you aware of any reason why this cannot be accomplished via CSS (i.e., place includes file info in HTML & position it via CSS)?

Thanks, DR

PS. I enjoy reading your posts...very informative.
